If you're signed in with your Mozilla account but Sync isn’t turned on yet, this article will help you activate it. Sync allows you to securely back up your bookmarks, passwords, browsing history and more across your devices.
Follow these quick steps to turn on and manage Sync in Firefox.
Sign in to Sync
- Click your profile icon
in the top-right corner of the Firefox toolbar.
- Choose the option.
- Enter your password.
You will receive an email with an authorization code; once you've entered the code back into the sign-in screen, you are officially signed in.
Turn on Sync
- Click your profile icon
in the top-right corner of the Firefox toolbar.
- Click in the menu. If you're signed in to the browser, you'll be redirected to your Sync settings.
- Choose what you’d like to sync (for example, passwords, bookmarks and history), and click
- Firefox will confirm that Sync is on. You can also confirm by clicking your profile icon again and looking for Sync is on next to your account.
Manage what Sync backs up
- Click the menu button ☰ in the top-right corner of the Firefox toolbar, and choose .
- In the left-hand panel, click
. You might be asked to sign in again.
If the Sync panel shows:- Syncing: ON, click the button to manage your synced data.
- Syncing: OFF, click the toggle to turn Sync on, if Sync has been disabled.

- In the Choose What To Sync panel, check the boxes for the data you want to sync (for example, Passwords).

Force a manual Sync
Mozilla accounts will sync at regular intervals, but you can also force a manual sync.
