How to fix Pocket login issues

This article explains why you are always asked to log in to [[Save web pages for later with Pocket for Firefox|Pocket]] when you want to view your Pocket list of saved pages. When Firefox is set to never remember history, [[Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history|Private Browsing mode]] is enabled. As a result, when trying to view your [[Save web pages for later with Pocket for Firefox|Pocket]] list, you'll be prompted to log in to the site and no [[Cookies - Information that websites store on your computer|cookies]] will be saved. If you select Never Remember History in Firefox Settings from the first drop-down within the History section of the Browser Privacy page, it will have a great impact on your Pocket list. When Firefox is set to never remember history, Private Browsing mode is enabled. As a result, when trying to view your Pocket list, you'll be prompted to log in to the site and no cookies will be saved.

To fix this issue and enable Firefox to save cookies for Pocket:

1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and select Settings (select Preferences on older macOS versions).Click the menu button and select Settings.
2. Click Privacy & Security from the left menu.
   • The Browser Privacy page displays.
3. Select Use Custom settings for history from the first drop-down within the History section.

   

4. Deselect the Always use private browsing mode checkbox if it is selected.
   • A pop-up dialog displays, prompting you to restart Firefox.
5. Click the Restart Firefox now button.
   • Firefox closes and reopens.
6. Go back to the The template "Optionsorpreferences" does not exist or has no approved revision. Privacy & Security Browser Privacy page.
7. Click the Manage Permissions… button in the Cookies and Site Data section.

   

   • The Exceptions - Cookie and Site Data pop-up dialog displays.
8. Enter https://getpocket.com in the Address of website field.
9. Click the Allow button.

   

   • https://getpocket.com is added below to the Website column and Allow is added to the Status column.
10. Click the Save Changes button.

Save to Pocket again after completing the steps above. A prompt will display asking you to log in one more time.
