Annual Survey virus not detected by any anti-malware program.

I have been getting the 2014 Annual Visitor's Survey pop up continuously over the last two days. I have checked the add ons - extensions. None found. I have run Windows Defender, MalwareBytes, Hitman Pro, Ad-Aware, and ESET, they detected nothing. I have checked add/remove programs, startup and anywhere else I can think of where a malicious program may hide. Found nothing. The pop up blocker is on with no exceptions. I have reset Firefox. Still there. I am running Windows 8.1 fully updated. Any suggestions? This thing is driving me crazy!

Were the anti-malware tools you used updated when you ran them? They have a definitions database, same as anti-virus software. Be sure to run AdwCleaner, TDSSKiller and others listed in the malware support article that you haven't mentioned.

Sort the list by install date. Look for programs you don't recognize among the recently installed ones. The program name can be SeeSimilar, SuperLyrics, LyricsContainer, Wajam, Webcake, HD-Video, Coupon Server, and others.

Also check if your IPv4 and IPv6 DNS settings have been tampered with. They should be set to "automatically detect", your ISP's servers, or known open DNS services like Google DNS.

If the problem persists, refer to a forum specializing in malware removal, like the following.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and look for a good add / pop-up blocker. While you are there, check out; BlockSite.

All malware program databases were updated. Ran TDSSKiller and AdwCleaner as suggested, still nothing detected. IPv4 and IPv6 settings are good. Will add on a pop up blocker to see if that might help. Thanks for your replies.

I was going to suggest Safe Mode but thought it wouldn't be necessary. Anywho, you can try it.
Can you try to start Firefox in Safe Mode to see if Firefox works properly with no error? You can start Firefox in Safe Mode below:

  • Windows/Mac: Go to Help > Restart with add-ons disabled
  • Linux: Run firefox -safe-mode in the Terminal/Konsole

If Firefox opens up fine with no problems, it's probably one of your extensions that's causing the issue. You can re-enable your add-ons one by one until you find the one that causes the issue upon being re-enabled.

This I do think might help
Please create a new profile to see if your current profile configuration is messing up.

After a reset, or even in a new profile, Firefox will discover and activate extensions that are installed at the system level and either listed in the Windows registry or dropped into a shared folder. So unfortunately, these are not complete cleansing solutions for external malware. Hopefully you can track it down using all the various suggestions above.

Normally Firefox doesn't activate such extensions without user confirmation.

Step 1: Go to add-ons and remove the ones you don't use. Step 2: Go to Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and delete that stormwatch crap off your computer along with the live something or other that goes with it. Step 3, restart Firefox. If that didn't solve the problem, then say so.
