Firefox 28 not working with NoScript local files file:///C:/....html

Was working in Firefox 22, using NoScript extension. Loaded FireFox 28 and an href=file:///C:/.....html does not work. Any work around?

I assume you have checked the NoScript icon and unblocked anything that needs to be unblocked...

Is the problem with a bookmark or home page, or with a link in another page?

For links: Firefox does have security restrictions on links to local files. Where is the document that contains the link (e.g., same folder, different folder, different machine, etc.)?

Sorry going crazy, not enough info given. The .html file is local to the computer, I have given it every permission. Windows 7. When I check through Firefox debug, no reason is given. I have added user_prefs configs in prefs.js. The button with the link comes from a web page. I have white listed everything in no script and set the local files to true. I followed the web page about local files not working. Was working in Firefox 22, upgraded to Firefox 28 and no joy. I have 40 kiosks in hospitals that are slowly going bad as they update themselves.

Okay, to summarize. A page on a web server has a link to a page on the C drive. In Firefox 27, NoScript could override Firefox's restriction on local links. However, in Firefox 28, the links do not work.

NoScript has changed, so you have to manually create the CAPS preferences that NoScript was creating for you in the background before. Or find a different extension to do it.

Well it was helpful in showing that there is obviously an issue with Firefox 28+ not able to use the CAPS interface with NoScript to run a LocalFileLink. I have followed the advice of the gentleman who loaded Firefox 27.0.1 and got it to work with that. I have updated all 40 Kiosks set the Options>advanced>Update to never then updated with Firefox 27. All is working apart from my hands and my lack of sleep and my throbbing head. I am concerned about the laidback attitude and want to know when I can resume the Firefox update routine, after this 'feature' is changed. Firefox can do better than that. NB IE Tab doesn't work either. LocalLink only allows a right click link option.

I'm not sure I understand your response. Are you saying that you tested creating your own CAPS policies manually (not using NoScript to do it) and the policies didn't work?

I just realized that the traditional CAPS approach will stop working in Firefox 29 anyway, so don't bother creating those rules by hand. Instead, consider using the ESR release of Firefox 24: http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/.
