URL constantly redirects to itself in Firefox
Hi
I have been investigating a problem on a microsoft forum. Each time i open a page on this forum in firefox, the page constantly redirects to itself. The url is this
The problem is not occurring in Internet Explorer or Google Chrome, just Mozilla Firefox. As you can see from the thread, it has been suggested that it is a problem with Firefox and that i ask for an explanation here

Firefox doesn't find the anchor because in Firefox names are case sensitive, so the uppercase version doesn't work.

This one does.
It seems to trigger some JavaScript on that page because the reload stops if I disable JS or change the link to one that doesn't exist at all.
Err click on your link - it does exactly the same thing.
ok, re-reading this i think i misunderstood. where it was said "this one works" i thought it meant this one doesn't have the problem.
Now i opened the link from an email and firefox is my default browser. The link in the email does not have the anchor when i hover over it. So my questions are
a) What puts the anchor on the end, and is incorrectly setting it to uppercase? b) Where is the fault that is causing the page to constantly reload?
thanks...
There is a script running on that page that doesn't seem to end and that keeps reloading the page endlessly.
It happens with and without the anchor.
Without the anchor the script adds the not working uppercase anchor, but even a lowercase version has the problem of reloading.

The reloading only stops if I disable JavaScript temporarily.
Hi cor-el
Thanks for the reply. If i've read it correctly, you are saying that the JavaScript embedded in the page is causing both problems a) and b).
Now neither of these problems occur in both IE and Chrome. The reason for a) is because Firefox is case sensitive and the others presumably aren't, so the reason is clear.
But for b), is it possible to pinpoint why the JavaScript causes the page to reload in Firefox but not in IE and Chrome?
thanks ...
Yes, I assume that some AJAX calls are made to process the anchor.
So I assume that something goes wrong there in Firefox.
Did some testing.
It still works OK in Firefox 5, but not in Firefox 6 and later.
