When I log into Firefox, it keeps telling me I'm not on the most current version. I download it, install it, and when I come back to it after an IE session, it's gone.

Also, it is not staying "stuck" even though I've tried to make it my default browser.

I have just commented on a post with some similarities to this. /questions/877782#answer-249283

Your user agent string is wrong, probably due to some ask tool bar that has been installed with or without your knowledge.

It reads

User Agent

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 AskTbARS/3.9.1.14019 Firefox/3.6.13 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)

What version of firefox are you using is it the current version, Firefox 6? to check click on :

  • Help -> About Firefox

You will need to disable or uninstall that software to solve the problem. You may be able to do that from the Firefox add-ons manager, but you may need to go into safe mode or you may need to identify and uninstall the software from the OS (Windows XP -> Start -> Control Panel -> uninstall software)
