Mail sync issue led to Mail disappearing after troubleshooting then selecting "clear startup cache". Calendar and contacts unaffected.
In trying to resolve an issue with email apparently not connecting (receiving new message and sending messages) I used the Troubleshooting Information option and selected the "Clear startup cache" option which resulted in mail disappearing but leaving calendar and contacts intact.
I've attempted to Import the profile backup to restore mail but it has not restored the mail.
I have also tried to re-add the mail account but it stalls at the Oauth stage with what appears to be some sort of dialogue box graphic trying to to open but not opening so am unable to add mail account back that way.

AFAIK, there is no logical reason for clearing the startup cache doing that. Try creating the account this way:
- go to TB menu > Settings > General > Account hub > uncheck 'Create accounts in the new Account Hub'
- go to TB menu > New Account > Email
Thank you.
Somehow I've managed to re-add the account, but not restore from the profile, however the account is no longer syncing messages (neither send nor receive) which is why I started troubleshooting.
Last sync was yesterday and I have not changed any settings since then.
