Address not in address book msg

I am writing an email and selecting addresses from address book. Several select ok but one is selected but once on the To: line there is a dot next to address and when hover over get msg: "Joe Doe <joe.doe@hotmail.com> is not in your Address Book.

Perhaps some non-visible character in your address book entry?
