For a website I have created two different accounts. However, Firefox Lockwise allows me to save only one. Is there a way of saving two different logins/passwords on the same web page? Thanks TS

Yes, it should allow plenty of logins/passwords for one page.

You can create new logins manually in Lockwise via the "Create New Login" button at the bottom of the left panel.

Thanks but this does not solve my problem. Let me re-state my problem with an example. I have subscriptions to several journals from the same publisher. The login pages differ only in the name of the journal. For example, one of them is

https://www.editorialmanager.com/ACCINF/default.aspx

and another one is https://www.editorialmanager.com/ISYS/default.aspx.

When I create a login for the first one, it drops the ACCINF/default.aspx part from the website address. This means, that when I try to create the second one, I get the following error message: " An entry for editorialmanager.com with that username already exists. Go to existing entry?"

Any suggestion on how to fix this? Thanks TCS

so it would be the same account name but different passwords on the same domain (editorialmanager.com)?

Firefox Lockwise logins are attached to only the domain part of the website (editorialmanager.com), not the specific page. The reason is because you can often log into your account from various different pages.

Take, for example, the Facebook website. You can login from the www.facebook.com page, but you can also log in from www.facebook.com/login. If you were to save a login in Firefox Lockwise from the www.facebook.com/login page, it wouldn't appear on any other page. Therefore, it wouldn't display for the www.facebook.com page.

You can have multiple logins saved for the same website, but not if the usernames are the same.

Unfortunately, if the usernames are the same and the passwords are different, you won't be able to save both into Firefox Lockwise. Nor would you really want to so this, since they would both appear identically in the drop-down list, so you'd have no idea which one is which.

In this case, my recommendation is usually to save the usernames for those accounts to Firefox Lockwise with some identifier appended to the username. This will allow you to save more than one entry into Firefox Lockwise (since the usernames would technically be different) and it would also help you to see which username belongs to which account. All you would need to do, is remove the text you have appended to the username after you have selected the account and Firefox has filled it into the login page for that website.

Using your specific case as an example (just pretending that your username here is the same as your username on those websites, for the sake of this example), you could save one entry into Firefox Lockwise as t.stratopoulos-ACCNIF and the other as t.stratopoulos-ISYS. Some people even go for something like t.stratopoulosa and t.stratopoulosi because there's less to remove from the end of the username after it's filled in.

Hope this helps.

A possible workaround is to edit the login and prefix the username with the folder path (ACCINF:username). Then you would have to remove this leading part before submitting the form. That way you have at least the login in the Password Manager and can select the login from the drop-down list or via "Fill Login" and "Fill Password" in the context menu. You also need to create a login block exception to suppress the dialog to update/store the modified login.

I have the same problem... in similar circumstances.

If Lockwise the trivial, had an annotation field, then a description could be added to identify the entry.

If lockwise displayed the complete URL rather than just the domain part, then each URL would be slightly different, and that would solve the silly error message problem.

Even after I manually enter it... Why doesn't Lockwise display the full URL?

The problems are all with Lockwise and papering over the cracks with the adding a suffix or prefix to the user name is not a good solution. This rigmarole might be useful as a temporary measure, but after a short while we'll forget which user names we've appended and whoops more problems.

Lockwise is the problem, it either needs fixing or removing to be replaced with something better.

I might be wrong, but it appears we don't have any other recourse if we want to use Firefox to hold the logins.

Lockwise only stores and uses the origin (protocol and domain) and not the full path of the URL, so if the domain is the same, but the path appended differs then you are out of luck. As a workaround and to be able to at least store the password in Lockwise, you can modify the user name and prefix or append some extra characters to the username that you can remove before submitting the login form. You need to create a login block exception to prevent Firefox from from showing the update dialog.

No! the paper over the cracks will fail after a while when I/we forget which usernames have been given a prefix or a suffix.

The only answer WE need is...Fix Lockwise so it also has a Title (or whatever) field.

I have absolutely no idea what a login bock exception is or does?

You can enclose the addition in (square) brackets or use another delimiter to leave no doubt about the addition.

Mmnnn! Not considered that, when I can find time tomorrow I'll see how it goes.

Still papering over Lockwise failings though.
