All tabs lost after upgrade from FF 56 to FF 61, I have sessionstore.js, it is ignored.
Hello, after updating firefox to 61, it did not restore my tabs nor give an option to, only showing unhelpful suggested websites on the home screen. After some reading, many other users have had this problem also with no good solution proposed. I have found my sessionstore.js and it has by old tabs, but firefox is ignoring this file and not providing the option to restore tabs. This may be because firefox is now expecting a compressed version?
Please provide some suggestions here, is it possible to compress my old sessionstore.js so that Firefox can use it?

Instead of trying to compress sessionstore.js, try hiding all the other files and then at the next startup, Firefox should use sessionstore.js as the only thing left. It's worth a try.
You can open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, click the "Open Folder" (or "Show in Finder") button.
Leaving that window open, switch over to Firefox and exit out of it (e.g., File > Exit or menu button > Exit).
Then, once shutdown file maintenance has been completed, in your profile folder:
(1) right-click sessionstore-backups and Rename it to sessionstore-backupsOLD
(2) right-click sessionstore.jsonlz4 and Rename it to sessionstoreOLD.jsonlz4 (or if you don't care about the latest session, you can delete it)
(3) Restore sessionstore.js to the profile folder; when the files are in alphabetical order, it should appear just before or just after sessionstoreOLD.jsonlz4
The next time you start Firefox, it should use the tabs in sessionstore.js.
Does that work?
As a backup plan, you can convert the contents of sessionstore.js to a page of clickable links using a tool on my website: drag and drop it onto this page, then click Scrounge URLs:
