As far as I know, the home page setting can't be switched from new tabs to new windows.

How often do you want to launch these new windows? If only at startup, you can modify your existing Firefox desktop shortcut (or create a new one), with the addresses specified in its "Target".

I haven't tested this fully, but in principle:

First, open the shortcut as follows:

  • Desktop shortcut: right-click the icon, choose Properties
  • Pinned taskbar icon: right-click the icon, right-click Mozilla Firefox, choose Properties

Windows normally will select the Shortcut tab. If not, go ahead and click the Shortcut tab.

You'll see the Target highlighted. On 64-bit Windows, that usually is no more and no less than the following:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"

You can add specific commands after that, for example (this is all one really long line):

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -new-window "https://www.wikipedia.org/" -new-window "https://www.mozilla.org/" -new-window "https://www.jeffersonscher.com/ttw/"

In case the pattern isn't obvious, it's -new-window followed by the URL to load in the new window.

hmm thought we had it there, but closer - of course now the target is limited to the amount of characters available to fulfil the 7 windows I require, so a cut & paste into there restricted it back to about half way down the list. It is only a startup problem

Am currently getting around it to an extent by having the 7 windows open as new tabs and then selecting the option on each tab to move to a new window, now if there was just an option to "move all tabs to new windows" that would be perfect !

Create a batch file with each window you want opened on its own line.

Example; "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" asd.zxc "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" qwe.ser "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" mlp.poi
