Yes, apparently they no longer support RealDownloader and prefer you to switch to their new cloud service and its RealTimes Downloader add-on. Have you investigated that?

There also are Firefox add-ons to download videos. However, if you are primarily interested in YouTube, it definitely is a "moving target" as Google changes the coding regularly. For example:
