All of our "read" emails, --from all of our accounts -- have suddenly disappeared. All of the folders and subfolders are still present. We still get new email, but as soon as we read it, it's gone. We have had these same email accounts for years and have not made any changes. In Account Settings --> Synchronization & Storage --> "don't delete any messages" is checked. "Read" messages are still on our server.

So, 1) Why did this happen? 2) Is there any way we can get our messages back in Thunderbird?

I am using Thunderbird 115.12.1 (64 bit) on Windows 10 with the email account set up as POP3 for the Gmail account

I have a subfolder under an Inbox (Gmail account) that is no longer showing up. If I search for an email address from a sender that was in the folder, I get a list of emails showing the dates and subject, but if I click on the email, the tab that opens is blank.

My PC crashed, but I can't say for sure when the folder disappeared, other than I know it was there 4 days ago. It the the only subfolder that is missing.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

When going from Help on menu to check for updates receive the error message - Failed to check for updates.

Running on Windows 10 with NAV - problem is recent in origin but I can't be exact as it's not my regular PC.

So far I've manually updated Thunderbird from 115.11.1 to 115.11.2 (64bit)by downloading from Mozilla website, rebooted from cold several times, and applied the fix from Norton:" https://community.norton.com/en/forums/auto-update-norton-360-v2449067835-now-causes-security-exception-thunderbird " in case it was related. It appears to be unrelated because on my regular PC the NAV update occurred necessitating the fix to the security exception error but don't have the checking for updates error.

thanks

Previously, for years, selecting and deleting groups of emails took only seconds. For sometime now, the more emails selected to delete as a group causes the amount of time to do so to become longer and longer. Minutes go by. It feels like instead of dealing with all of them at once, it's deleting one at a time, but that's just a guess. What can I do to get back to where it used to be? Thank you.

Hi I am having problems with Thunderbird, i’m not sure if it’s to do with a windows 11 update or something else. Thunderbird is not responding also at the start of the ‘not responding’ emails from one of my accounts disappeared and then gradually started to reappear but didn’t get up to date and now just not responding st all. I have tried various things to resolve this, uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird, doing this and opening my pc in safe mode, doing this and opening Thunderbird in safe mode. Deleting and reinstalling the latest windows 11 update, reinstalling the latest Thunderbird update. I don’t know what to try next? I read somewhere to delete your profile, after saving it, and getting a new profile but no idea how to do this. Any help appreciated.

I'm at a loss, and I'm being bounced around by a ping pong by Comcast and Optimum. Let me state some facts. 1. The error I'm reporting here, I have NEVER EVER seen before. 2. I have 2 email comcast email addresses, they have worked with Thunderbird for over 15 years- no issues. 3. Optimum is my ISP for the past 5 yrs- no issues like this. I don't have an email address w/them. Seems they don't provide them anymore I was told by their rep!

Earlier last week I noticed I was not receiving emails at all from on my iPhone. I use the iPhone Mail application for email.

I opened Tbird this morning and saw this WEIRD message for both comcast email addresses.

Sending of password for user xxx@comcast.net did not succeed. Mail server mail.comcast.net responded: [AUTH] Temporarily blacklisted IP Address - try again later

Then the following window in Tbird appears both accounts each.

Login to server mail.comcast.net with username xxx@comcast.net failed Retry, Enter New Password, Cancel

No idea what the above blacklist error means.

I called Comcast. We checked/reset the passwords on the accounts in the comcast webmail, I changed them in Thunderbird. I checked both inboxes, and there were over 40 emails I never received in Tbird, nor on my phone, inside Comast's webmail.

Using comcast webmail on my PC, I am able to send emails to myself from both accounts, and reply. My friends are able to send me emails to both accounts. However I can only see the emails on my phone, NOT in Thunderbird.

Here's the more weird part.

My primary comcast (#1) email address on my phone works ONLY when I'm using my cellular data. If I connect to my ISPs router, I cannot send/receive email at all from comcast, and using Apple's mail app, I cannot send email using the gmail account that I have in Mail also. The gmail is independent from comcast.

If I disconnect from Optimum WiFi router, then the following works: 1. Gmail- can send/receive email 2. Comcast email #1 (Primary)- can send and receive emails from/to anyone 3. Comcast email #2- can only receive email, it cannot send at all.

When connected to my WiFi both comcasts read same error in Mail app with "Cannot Get Mail, xxx is currently unavailable"

And no matter what I do- Thunderbird continues to give me the above error and nothing can be sent OR received in Thunderbird.

I have no idea where to go on this one.

Thanks in advance.

I know this problem has been discussed extensively, but I can't fix it even after reading the previous posts.

I have an institutional email address that uses outlook.office365 server and mandatory two factor autentication. I had my Thunderbird setup with this, which suddenly stopped working one day on my office PC. I updated Thunderbird to the newest version, but the issue pertains. Currently I'm running Thunderbird 115.12.2. on a Windows 10 machine.

When I try to fetch my emails from this server, a popup window appears that asks for my institutional login credentials. When I enter them, a second window appears, asking for the two factor autentication. However, this window seems to be corrupt, as it does not contain any information, and and it's impossible to type in verification code, as there's no input area at all (see the first picture - note that I'm using a localized version of Thunderbird).

When I click on Privacy and cookies in the right bottom corner, then two lines appear (although without any labels), where I can type in my verification code (I guess that it is the second line, because it shows dots in place of the typed characters, as for passwords). A screenshot of this window can be seen in the second picture.

However, after typing the correct code and clicking on the grey button, the first window reappears, this time with my email address that keeps flashing forever and nothing happens. It does not even matter if I type in the right verification number or just anything, it produces the same behaviour. As a result, I can't log in to my mailbox, which is operational, because I can log in there through the web interface of outlook, and also from my laptop using Thunderbird 78.14.0. I also made sure that the server name and authentication methods are correct (outlook.office365.com, port 993, SSL/TLS, OAuth2).

Do you have any suggestion how to solve this issue?

Many thanks.

We have recently moved to a new mail server. We currently have about 20 Thunderbird email clients on Windows in an office location and a macOS home machine. On all machines email is configured to use IMAP on hostname.com port 993 SSL/TLS with Normal Password and SMTP on hostname.com port 465 SSL/TLS with Normal Password.

The home machine is working 100% with no issues, it does have a much faster and lower latency internet connection than the office machines.

Many of the office machines are experiencing intermitent SMTP error messages when sending, intermitent, "unable to save mail in the Sent folder of the Inbox", messages and intermitent unable to move messages between folders.

I have checked and double checked the settings on affected machines - however, I believe a settings issue would result in nothing working, not intermitent functionality. Plus all is working fine on the home machine with the same settings (different OS, but ports and security settings all dictated by server).

With one client behaving properly, the server likwise behaving properly when addressed by the working client and the intermitent nature of the problems we are finding, I suspect we have some sort of network issue. Somthing timing out or a firewall/AV software causing a delay.

I have increased mailnews.tcptimeout on affected machines to 250 based on a forum article but this has had no effect (No idea of units here but if it is seconde then I am not supprised - the SMTP errors, when they happen are almost instantanious).

Any ideas on how to trobleshoot this problem further - The problem seems to get worse through the day, although that may just be peoples tollerance of an intermitent issue going down.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Recently, a weird problem developed on my Thunderbird. I can delete maybe 7 or 8 emails, and suddenly nothing else will delete. I can press the delete button and nothing happens. The only resolution is closing Thunderbird and reopening.

I have followed these steps: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-delete-messages#:~:text=Close%20Thunderbird.,Select%20the%20Trash%20and%20Trash.

And it did not resolve the problem.

Any other ideas?

The last auto upgrade included a calendar function, which I switched off as I thought this was causing the problem. But now after all the messages have downloaded, I get the usual pop-up box in the bottom right of the screen telling me I have received x messages but it only half fades in and the whole PC jams. CTR-ALT-DEL does not work and I can't switch to a different window or even click on anything in the Thunderbird screen. The only thing that I can do is hard reboot the PC and switch off the router, which allows me to start up Thunderbird without anything downloading. I am using Windows 7 and Avast as my AV. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
