What is the best way in TB of organising the storage of email messages on my local storage device:

• Many folders/subfolders, each containing a limited number of messages?
• Few / One Archive folder containing all messages, each message tagged with one or more tags for easy search/retrieval?

I would prefer the latter, but I am unsure if there are any limitations to how many messages that can be stored in one folder i TB.

• Are there any practical limitations regarding the no. of messages in one folder?

My current Thunderbird profile has been created dirctly in ...AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird. <Profiles> does exist but not contain any recent files or data. How do I restore a proper data structure without losing any emails, settings or other data?

When I press the send icon in The Messaging Company email nothing happens. Therefore I cannot send emails. Have tried various port numbers in the outgoing server and secure connection is established.

I've downloaded Thunderbird in office PC and on PC at home. Almost I working in office PC or web mail but when I open Thunderbird at home, all my email lost in web mail and it's happened for such times. Is it a setting problem?! or, if it will be happen if using Android version ?! Thank you for your kindly assist!

hello thunderbird, having problem accessing my emails, keep showing pop-up box requesting password. i am the only person accessing my email, therefore i dont wish to use password. is there a way i can use my email without the use primary password? thankyou mick

Yesterday I found that I can't send mail using Yahoo.ca. I was able to get my wife's computer working by sending an email. A message came on the browser and I logged in to Yahoo. She can now send email. When I tried the same thing on my computer, I get a message "No apps available". I have spent hours trying and can't get around the message. The simplest test is as follows:

• create a new profile, and open the new profile
• enter my name and email address, and continue
• I get a message "Configuration found in Mozilla ISPDB." It uses SSL/TLS and Oauth2
• I hit next. Yahoo opens a page in my browser to log in. I enter the password and the security code sent by text
• The browser sends a message to allow an app. When I allow it the message "No apps available" appears as shown.

The release notes on Thunderbird are Version 153.0 | Released July 21, 2026 For now, I can use a second account on gmx.com to send mail, but prefer to use Yahoo when it works. Any suggestions?

I have set a custom theme on my Thunderbird on Linux. As you can see by the attached image though, the menu bar is hard to read when you get to the right side. Dark background and dark text doesn't really go together. Is there a way to make the background of the menu bars a solid color or something less see-through so the text can be read? I want a light theme, but I need to be able to read the menu.

How do i change the icons representing email folders? I have some Spam folders that display a 'flame', and other display a folder. I want to change the folder icon to a 'flame' icon so I have visual consistency.

This has been the way things are for many versions now.

family and friends, communities sending info directions to my Inbox and I'm not receiving these emails. We always compare if I gave them the right email address. I need help to correct the problem.

I cannot set up my yahoo mail account in thunderbird. first, yahoo does not let me log in using firefox (all extensions off). I set chrome to my default browser. chrome at least allows me to log into my yahoo account directly. First part of set up is okay: server setings, imap etc. then thunderbird wants to connect to yahoo.com. Using chrome I can log in. It then tries to open some file and returns an error message, "no app found." I attach some screen shots.

I am using Ubuntu 24.04LTS with all current updates. xdg-com is installed. the version is 1.1.3. Thunderbird version is current: 153.0 (64-bit).

What is the problem?

Dear Foristi, after updating to V. 135 Oesr (64Bit), neither AOL mail nor Yahoo mail cooperate any longer. Passwords checked, correct. Other PC, not updated, still connects to AOL and Yahoo addresses without flaw. OS: Linux Mint, both PC have 8 GB RAM. Where did I screw up?

I have thunderbird installed on my PC, and my main email account is a gmail account. I download from gmail using POP protocol (SSL/TLS connection security, OAuth2 authentication). I have been using these settings for a long time (15 years?).

This afternoon, thunderbird stopped downloading my messages. No error messages : just "no new messages to download".

I can see (by logging directly into my gmail account using my browser) that there are new messages on the server. They're not spam or junk, and they're not getting downloaded into my (local) spam folder. They're not getting downloaded at all.

I still have room on the google server (it's about 87% full), and room on the hard drive on my computer (about 3 GB).

I use Windows 10 and Thunderbird for email but I can NOT SEND anymore to anyone. I got an error message that said, "Authentication Required" and gave me a web address go to but google says it no longer available. Tell me how to fix Thunderbird so I can SEND messages again..
