I am just wondering why FireFox occasionally becomes slow to load web pages. On these occasions, restarting Firefox fixes the problem immediately.

Example, I was just loading the same page repeatedly because of some work I am doing. After about 15 minutes of slow response times, I restarted FireFox and immediately, the page loaded very quickly as usual.

You can see the page where this was occurring at this url: https://legacy-systems.biz/demo/demo.html

Any information etc. would be appreciated immensely.

For past week or so, pages very, very slow to load. I often must close and open browser, as pages become unresponsive. I have NEVER had this problem; have always been able to open these multiple tabs and navigate between them with no problem at all over past year! I have made zero changes to add-ons or software in past 2 months. The ONLY change has been the FireFox update. I am now being forced to use another browser. Please let me know how I can reverse the update and go back to an older, stable, usable version of FireFox

Hi

I'm an Computer Vision engineer and I migrated from Chrome recently.

The problem is, when I train a neural network and GPU utilization goes beyond 90% Firefox becomes unusable and sometime freeze my whole PC entirely.

I'm not even talking about YouTube or video sites, just new tab is enough to cause problem.

This never happen in Chrome and I'm forced to keep using it every time I need to use GPU.

Is there any tip for this?

For the past few days, Firefox has been running painfully slowly. I have tried to reset it, reinstall it and running Glary Utilities to clean but nothing has worked so far. I also have Opera and Chrome which are running absolutely fine. The program itself starts up fine but just seems to be very slow to load pages.

I am on Windows 10 with latest updates which is run on a separate SSD drive. Everything else runs very quickly like the resource heavy NoxPlayer.

Please let me know what further details I can provide you with.

Thank you in advance!

I have recently been suffering an issue where the browser becomes unresponsive and consumes massive amounts of hardware resources especially memory, in one case was using over 60 gigabytes of combined physical and virtual memory.

I have tried refreshing with Firefox Refresh, reinstalling and the problem still persists.

I believe it is either one of the addons Tree Style Tabs, but I don't know how to accurately diagnose this though, as sometimes I am able to get to the about:addons and disable one or the other but the problem doesn't go away and in some cases escalates to freezing the whole process.

When the application does this, the currently selected pages still work say I have one open of the ABC news website, I can still scroll up and down, but if I click a link to another article or something, nothing happens, same applies if I try to do anything with the address bar, the history and suggestions pop up but the browser doesn't do anything even after I hit enter.

I'd like to try and find out what the program is doing during this state of unresponsiveness, I left it for a couple of hours last week to see if it could work itself out, turns out it couldn't and the system ran out of Ram and fell over. I'd like to know how to diagnose it, know what it's doing, what it's hung up on and if it's related to an addon, tell the creator about it.

I apologise if this is not the correct way to go about this, I have just run out of patience trying to fix this myself.

Was using FF 79.0. Everything worked great. I upgraded to 80 or so a while back and found that it was taking ~7-10 seconds before FF would begin to load an initial webpage, so I used system restore to go back to 79. I've upgraded to 82.0.2 and the same thing is happening. Tried going back using system restore, but system restore failed for some reason, so I'm now stuck. I haven't had success re-installing FF 79.0. Any ideas why FF would be so slow loading a page? FYI, once I'm on that website, if I click to another page on that website, it loads quickly and normally. Only seems to be when I'm moving to a new website. I'm using Windows 7.

I'm using Firefox v 83.0 on Manjaro (Gnome) Linux. YouTube videos in theater/full-screen mode lag if resolution is higher than 360p and cause the CPU usage to burst. This happens for large web pages as well: when I scroll the page, text overlaps and everything is terribly slow. I've checked and this seems to be a Firefox related problem; videos play smoothly both on VLC and Chromium. I've tried all official troubleshooting suggestions: changing to default theme, refreshing Firefox, starting in safe-mode, disabling extensions, disabling hardware acceleration and so on, with no success. I've never had any problems with Firefox for Linux before and I wonder what could be the cause.

I attached screenshots for comparison of CPU usage for the same video playing in theater mode in Firefox and Chromium.

Firefox lately has weird connection issues to google related websites (eg. google search, google keep, youtube). 1. Google search takes noticeably slower time. Sometimes it will just hang and need to refresh multiple times. 2. Sometimes, links from google search are not working at the first click/try. 3. Google keep does not load at all, requires multiple refreshes to load it successfully. 4. YouTube is the easiest to replicate the problem. The thumbnails loads significantly slower. I just cant get it load extra content by scrolling down, just keep showing the loading sign.

Tried: 1. clear cache and cookies. 2. restart firefox and PC. 3. restart router. 4. flushed windows dns. 5. no proxy.

FYI, chrome works well so i don't think it is a network issue but a browser specific issue.

I continually have a yellow bar across the top of the page when I open Facebook on Firefox.

It says "A web page is slowing down your browser. What would you like to do?" then there are 2 buttons and a X next to that question.

My request is for Firefox to tell me it is Facebook causing the problem and how to get rid of it.

I see these strange gray blocks (I think related to twitter) that have a light vertical bar moving across. This happens a lot of times. Has been happening for a few months. I suppose this relates to something they started doing in HTML at that time.

Firefox takes over 30 seconds to load a tab that I've already opened and seen before.

I mean tabs that have already displayed some content, I switch to a tab, then go back to the tab I was previously on, and it takes over 30 seconds to load, sometimes over 3 minutes. This is making firefox unusable.

And because it doesn't happen all the time, it's not very reproducible for me, but it happens often. Is there a way to fix this?

In the last couple of weeks, when I start a game (RoyalGames.com) that uses adobe flash, Firefox goes haywire and starts breaking into pieces (the whole browser). Usually I can shut it down but tonight it crashed my whole system, my monitor went black, but the sound was still working. I had to manually shut down. I was able to get a screen shot of it before it completely crashed. See pic. The image should be an orange box with a black border but it's all broken into pieces. The games work fine on Chrome and Internet Explorer. A couple days ago I did a Windows refresh and just installed Firefox fresh but it still happens. Anyone have any ideas what would cause this? Thank you.

Firefox makes system volume reduce to 50% when Tidal is playing music on Windows 10. I can see this happening through the system mixer, activated via the icon in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

I am using a Steinberg UR22 mkII USB interface, but the behavior happens across all sound outputs.

Going into the properties of the USB device have proved unsuccessful.

Firefox does not trigger this behavior with other applications playing through the USB device. I'm wondering if there is some sort of setting left over from when I had Firefox Voice enabled?

A fresh install of Firefox did not do the trick. This happens with all sound outputs on Windows 10, not just through the USB device.

Does anyone have any ideas/solutions?

Since the update, I'm unable to access ANY protected directories on any sites (those where a small modal dialog box appears at the top of the page asking for a uid/pwd pair and displaying the name of the realm above that). The dialog box doesn't even appear, the page does not change from its previous location, and the "I'm thinking" animation in the tab continues forever without ever seeing an error message.

Any suggestions? Must I downgrade? (uck)

Firefox often times out when accessing paypal.com and other sites that use certificates from DigiCert. The same sites can be accessed reliably, from the same computer at the same time, using chromium-based browsers.

The problem goes away if I disable the check to query OCSP responder, which may indicate the cause of the problem.

Often the sites can be accessed after restarting firefox, but after a few tries the problem recurs. This is not a solution as PayPal is often accessed in the last steps of an online purchase.
