Force upgrade lost old emails
Configuration: Windows XP Home Thunderbird: V17-05 (portable version) Setting: No Check for Update and thus 'Automatic download and install the upgrade' is grayed out.
I intend to upgrade to Windows 8.1. That's why I have no plan to upgrade Thunderbird. The new box will arrive on Tuesday. Unfortunately, Thurderbird execute a force upgrade hours ago. Now whenever it starts, it ask me to create new user account. Yes, all my e-mail accounts have disappeared. I didn't change any setting for months. The files are all there. But I couldn't access it. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Here is how to recover a lost profile in Thunderbird. I do not know if it works the same with the portable version. That is an application modified by another vendor.
