page loaded in wrong tab

I use KUbuntu 14.04 (Linux 3.13.0-24-generic, KDE SC Version 4.12.97, KDELibs version 4.13.0, Qt version 4.8.6, 64-bit) and FF 29.0. Steps to reproduce: 1) open new tab 2) type an URL (e.g. google.com) and press enter 3) while URL is loading switch to another tab (e.g. with some wikipedia article).

I expect that google will be loaded in tab opened on step1 and wikipedia will stay open where it was. But actually I get google loaded both in tab opened in step1 AND in tab where wikipedia was opened (active tab).

There are more ways to get page opened in wrong tab, but this one is simplest.

I had same problem before I updated FF to 29.0 (I don't remember what version it was), but I have never had the problem on Win7 with FF 28-29, WinXP with FF 29 (not sure which exactly, I was on aurora channel and stopped using it about three weeks ago as I migrated to Linux), MacOS with FF 28-29 and Win8 with FF28. I also don't have this problem on my other linux-pc (also KUbuntu 14.04 with FF28) which makes me think that there is some kind of setting, whix=ch I can't find.

Ater using sync I have several plugins that could somehow affect FF, but the problem was there before I installed any plugins and didn't occur on differen machines with same set of plugins.

I would be very glad if someone will help me solve this issue, because it's rather annoying.

Hello,

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.

  1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
  2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
  3. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    • Windows:
      • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    • Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    • Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
  4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not run Firefox's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Firefox data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!

Please report back to see if this helped you!

Thank you.

I'll try clean reinstall, but I doubt that it works, as the problem described was present even on clean FF instalation (on system first launch)

OK. Thanks for help, seems that problem was in keeyword search addon. All worked fine after rresetting firefox.
