Email randomly goes offline. Can I somehow get it to stay online unless I ask it not to?

Thunderbird question. Email seems to work fine for me, but... It sometimes may go offline when I am on the web or have put it to sleep. I look for emails and the pop-up says: "You are offline. Would you like to go online...." Not a big deal, but annoying, and also troubling in that I don't know what I may have done to bring this on. It may happen several times in a day, or it may behave itself for a day or two.

Thunderbird goes offline when it sees the network connection go away. Keep that from happening and Thunderbird stays online.

Are you on a laptop that goes to sleep and powers down the network card?

Have you discovered the online/offline icon in the lower left corner of the screen? It looks like 2 monitors. You can check and change states from there.

I have this issue too. Is there any way of making it automatically go back online when the network comes up again?

The first time this happened, I was simply unaware that it was offline, and when I had waited about a week for a response, and it occurred to me to press "Get Mail", about 20 mails came flooding in.

I suggest that you keeps an eye on the online/offline indicator described above.
