I had to do a re-install of Thunderbird after a crash. How do I get my old address book into my new one? There are only a few of the contacts I had, so there must be a location where the rest are, but not sure where to look. And once I find them (with your help), how do I get them into the address book?

Thanks for trying...I did what you said, but it still didn't bring back my contacts.

"What I said" provided several options to restore contacts. What exactly did you do? If you look in the profile folder, do you see any .mab files? Do you have .mab files anywhere else, such as in a backup folder?

I found 2 .mab files and followed the instructions on your link to find the "profile" folder, and then copied the .mab files into the profile folder, but didn't get my contacts to show up when I opened the address book again.

If you copy abook.mab or history.mab into a profile folder, they will show up as Personal Address Book and Collected Addresses. But if the mab files have names other than abook or history, they can only be imported to TB with the use of MoreFunctionsForAddressBook.
