My google calendar is appearing as a tile on the left side of the screen. I can't make it fill the screen, and it stays up when I am on other pages.

This just started. Before, if I went to Google calendar, it came up just like any other web page. Now, it is permanently showing on the left edge, and it is squashed so I can't read it. I tried to increase the size by dragging on the line between it and the full page, but it won't get any bigger.

Sorry, I had forgotten that Firefox 25 and 26 have a bug that prevent you from removing the check mark to load a bookmark in the sidebar.
This is fixed in Firefox 27, but for now you have to remove the bookmark and create a new bookmark.

Sounds that you opened this link in the sidebar.

Opening in the sidebar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website.
You can check the Properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the sidebar (Ctrl+B; Command+B on Mac).
In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Details pane at the bottom right.
Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" is not selected.

Thanks. I deleted the bookmark and re-added it again, and it is working now. That isn't exactly what you suggested, but your answer gave me the idea.
