How I block out the pictures in web pages

I use very slow internet connection, that reason I do not want pictures in firefox 24.0 to show.

Chosen solution

The setting has been hidden in the options in recent versions to protect some users from setting it and forgetting it. However, you can change this setting in three ways:

Firstly, you can type "about:config" (no quotes) in the address bar, accept the warning (in other words, be careful in about:config), then type "permissions.default.image" (no quotes) and change the setting to the one desired: 1 - to load images automatically; 2 - automatically load images is off.

Secondly, you can use an add-on to restore these settings back into the options dialogue (as well as others): Settings Sanity.

Thirdly, you can use an extension to place an icon on your toolbar so you can switch from using images or not using them: Image Block.

Hello kauttaja, try the next :

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page
  3. find/type permissions.default.image (or copy/paste from here)
  4. double-click on it and change the value to 2
  5. click ok, exit firefox and restart it.

Hello,

Can you please check the solution provided in this ticket Block images in Firefox to find the possible solutions to block images to load in Firefox.

Also, request you to upload Firefox to the latest version so that you have the latest fixes and features available.

Thank you

Hello kauttaja,

You can also decide to allow or block images on a site-by-site basis. Just right click on any page and choose "View Page Info". Then click on "Media" and click on the check-box to block images from the site you are on.

To block images on all sites, then the solution supplied here by ideato would be best. If you've never used about:config before then just go slowly and follow his 5 steps precisely.

Just remember to copy and save those steps so that you can switch back to loading images again if you decide to do so in the future (just reverse the value of 2 back to 1 or right click on permissions.default.image and choose "reset")

Thank you
