I recently upgrade to 25.0 (as suggested for security issues) afterwards my Firefox slowed down a lot. Some tabs take forever to open, some other keep loading (loading sign keeps turning) even after page has opened, etc I already tried Reset with little or no result. what should I do to solve this? thank you

hello mich124114, normally such issues are caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions: Fix problems connecting to websites after updating Firefox

please also update your plugins (some of them are out-dated which might cause all sorts of issues).

thanks for the feedback Philipp. I already tried restarting in Safe Mode which should disable all add on and nothing changed significantly. I can not change firewall/security software since I'm connecting from office and these settings are centrally managed and applied to all. Would it be possible to downgrade / reinstall previous version? thanks

Firefox 25.0 upgrade. 25.0 works very slow. Older version worked as expected. Disabled firewall in Linksys router, AVG firewall and Win 7 firewall. Works a little faster but not as expected. Run Speakeasy speed test in 25.0 results 2.3 download, .02 upload. Ran the same test in Internet explorer which works as usual and received 16.4 mbps download and 1.07 Mbps upload speeds. My firewall in controlled by AVG which has Firefox listed under the Priority Application Rules as allowed. Have any other suggestions to speed up Firefox 25.0?

hello, when you are using speedtest.net or a similar flash-based site to measure your connection speed then it might be an issue with the protected mode that adobe has introduced for its flash plugin for firefox. some old versions of f-secure or trusteer rapport are known to cause such slowdowns together with flash, or it might be something similar on your system that is interfering (maybe security software that is blocking/sandboxing the container used for the protected mode, etc...).

as a workaround you could try disabling protected mode & see if this makes a difference.

in case you'd like to troubleshoot the issue further, it would be best to contact adobe's support & file a bug report at bugbase.adobe.com (choose "Adobe Flash Player" as the product & "Browser Integration" as the product area), since they will have a better understanding of the internals of flash protected mode & therefore may know what else might be at the root of the problem you were seeing.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
