When loading websites, some of them have overlaying ads (like "Please take our customer survey!" etc.) that have to be closed before viewing the website. Is there any way to turn off these ads, or just ignore them permanently?

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back soon.

If ads displaying on the websites is a serious issue, please try downloading AdBlock Plus on your internet browser.

I already have adblock installed. These aren't ads that are inline with the website, but dim the page I'm looking at and cover part of the screen. Once I click close in the corner, the page lights up as it should.

As said above, if the website has a code to open a piece of content, there is no way to stop it.

Please post a URL for a website with an ad.

Got a screenshot from www.arcamax.com/thefunnies/babyblues . The odd thing is that when I go directly to a page of theirs it won't come up, but when I click one of the links on that page to view a different comic it will usually come up.

These types of ads cannot be blocked.
They are neither a popup, nor a ad that AdBlock Plus can block.
Sorry.

Maybe in the future AdBlock Plus will design an update that will block these ads.
