I can't post an image, so not sure how to explain? Instead of the little icons ie.e. grey images of a person or lock or other etc. I don't even know what these are called. They are not favicons I don't think. Instead of the grey images, I get little boxes with the Letters EO and underneath 01 or some have a , etc. Is this the code?

I would need to provide an image to be more accurate.

You see such little boxes with the hex code instead of the character in cases where this character isn't available.
If this is happening on web pages then it is likely that a downloadable font if used.

You can check the gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled pref on the about:config page to see if it is set to true.

You can also check the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer;Command+Shift+K) for errors.

Hi Thank you for reply. Yes I tried both steps and was already set to true on config. I looked into the webs console and it has all these etc. Still not sure how to fix. Thanks. I've also attached image.

You will have to search for lines that relate to the involved downloadable font.

Does such a font work on GitHub?

Also make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
