Note that your System Details List shows that you have obsolete preferences from previous Firefox versions that are no longer supported.
You can delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default value. You will have to redo your settings in Tools > Options.
You can also opt to edit the prefs.js file and remove the corresponding lines or reset these prefs to the default value via the right-click context menu if you know which prefs are involved or only keep settings that you are sure of that still work.

Have you setup a Master Password, you may need to reset it. See below.
Are you using other security devices or have enabled FIPS?
- Tools > Options > Advanced : Encryption: Security Devices
This started to happen when I updated firefox to version 23.01. Before that I had to enter password only once
I don't have master password set in options
could you go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us a clue what is going on...

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.
