Latest divx plugin not working
I have downloaded the newest Divx web player version and it is enabled but no divx content will play in my browser.
Chosen solution
Thank you. I used Revo Unintaller and removed VLC and DivXPlus completely. Installed VLC again and restarted Mozilla and now *.mkv files play in Firefox. I have not installed DivX yet, but I will, and if its web player breaks the VLC, I'll have to redo the fix and figure out what to do with the DivXPluse... use it or not, or not use just the web player part? Anyway, VLC plays *.mkv just fine and the look great. If you have Revo Uninstaller, it keeps track of uninstalls by making a restore point... Also, it finds all the crap left behind and allow you to remove it fast and easy. :) Nice program :)

Please make sure the browser is restarted after installation has completed.
Still getting the yellow drop down bar and view windows with the plug-in missing message.
If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like Adblock Plus or NoScript or Flash Block that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
(I deleted my previous post)
Your system details show that you have the "DivX VOD Helper Plug-in" installed but I'm not sure if this is the right plugin for the content you are trying to play. It would help if you could post links to the following:
- The website from where you downloaded the latest Divx web player
- A link to divx content that won't play and which displays the "missing plugin" message.
2. http://180upload.com/gojbiurduhnn#
Is 180upload.com the only site where you are having problems with embedded divx content or do you have another example?
After going thorough the "captcha" a page, I get to a page with an embedded player. When I click the "play" button, I get a "missing plugin" alert. When I click on "install plugin...", the Mozilla Plugin Finder Service gives the message,
"No suitable plugins found: "Unknown Plugin (application/octet stream)
... but when I view the "Page Info" Media tab, the content type for the embedded avi file is shown as "video/divx" and when I click on "Manual Install" in the Plugin Finder Service I am sent to http://www.divx.com/en/software/divx-plus
("application/octet stream" is a generic MIMEtype for binary files and not the correct type for calling a divx plugin.)
You can check the proper mimetypes your divx plugin will handle by opening about:plugins in Firefox (enter it in the address bar) and finding it in the list. Copied from http://kb.mozillazine.org/Video_or_audio_does_not_play
Each plugin contains a list of file extensions and MIME types, (also called Internet media types) which it will play. Unlike Internet Explorer, Mozilla browsers will only use a plugin to play the media content if the plugin lists that MIME type; otherwise, you will get a "missing plugin alert". You can see the MIME types and file extensions that are handled by your installed plugins in the about:plugins list.
Modified
P.S. I did some searching and found another Firefox user with a similar issue. See the question, https://support.mozilla.org/questions/962323 Divx does not work with Firefox 21 ... in case something there is helpful.
The above thread links to this test page:
I also looked through the Divx Plus Web Player forum and found this divx forum post with another test page:
Do you also have problems with these pages? Do you see a "missing plugin" alert or do you have another problem with the embedded content? (for other problems, please explain).
It would also help if you could copy the section of the Firefox about:plugins page that refers to the "DivX VOD Helper Plug-in" and paste it here, so we can see which MIMETypes are handled by that plugin.
Modified
Same alert on both of the pages you sent.
Here is the code for the test page at http://www.sumskaya.com/divx-web-player.html
<embed type="video/divx" src="summit.00.avi" width="240" height="196" autoPlay="false" pluginspage="http://go.divx.com/plugin/download/"> </embed>
The embed code for the test page at http://labs.divx.com/node/5000 is this:
<embed src="http://download.divx.com/divxlabs/Apples_and_Oranges_Trailer_720-12Mbps.divx" width="550" height="340" align="middle" type="video/divx" custommode="none" autoplay="false" pluginspage="http://go.divx.com/plugin/download/" disabledimmer="true" previewimage="http://labs.divx.com/files/applesoranges.jpg"> </embed>
I don't know a whole lot about HTML coding but both links define the MIMEtype as "video/divx" so you need a plugin that will handle that type. It would help if you could open the Firefox about:plugins page from the address bar, then copy the contents and paste it here so we can see which MIMETypes are handled by the "DivX VOD Helper Plug-in" as well as the filename for that plugin.
A long shot, but if that If that plugin doesn't handle "video/divx" then the latest DivX Web Player plugin may have been copied to the Firefox\plugins folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\plugins by default, on Windows 7 64-bit). Firefox no longer scans that location (ref.). To enable any plugins in the Mozilla Firefox\plugins folder, you could open about:config from the Firefox address bar, double-click the plugins.load_appdir_plugins preference to change it's value to true and then restart Firefox. See Windows Media or other plugins stopped working after Firefox update for details.
If that doesn't help, it could be that your "DivX Plus Web Player HTML5" extension is interfering somehow. You could ask about it in the Divx Plus Web Player forum or you could disable all Firefox extensions and restart Firefox, to see if that helps.
Finally got it working! Here's what I did; 1. Used Revo uninstaller on advanced mode to remove all traces of VLC and DIVX. 2. Updated ATI display drivers from website. 3. Reinstalled VLC and set to handle DIVX plugin. 4. Reinstalled DIVX.
Works great now on all websites!
Thanks for your help!
So, you're using the VLC Media Player plugin now for embedded divx video?
Anyway, I'm glad you worked it out. Thanks for posting your solution.
