I cannot get rid of Genieo from Firefox. I think I managed to get rid of from my other browsers. I feel like I have tried everything.
I have been trying to get rid of this program or whatever it is from Firefox for months. I think I got rid of it from Safari and Chrome but it keeps coming back on Firefox.
I've uninstalled, restarted, changed start page, tried reconfigure it's a computer nightmare. Deleted Firefox and everything Genieo and it's still here. I hate it.
I have a Mac OS 10.7.5

The about:config page works the same on all platforms, so those instruction should work for you on a Mac as well.
Type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key to open the about:config page, just like you open a website by typing the URL in the location bar.
- If you see a warning message then you can confirm that you want to access the about:config page.
- use the Search bar at the top of the about:config page to locate preferences more easily
- preferences that have been modified and do not have the default value show as bold (user set)
- preferences that are user set (bold) can be reset to the default value via the right-click context menu
- preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean) or by double-clicking the line with the pref
- preferences can be created via the right-click context menu: New -> String, Integer, Boolean

"Remove from Firefox To change the default search please follow these instructions:

Have you also dragged and dropped Genieo into the trash?

Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
You can open the about:config page and search for prefs that are referring to "genieo".
You can reset prefs via the right-click context menu to the default value.
Unfortunately when I paste this : http://kb.mozillazine.org/about:config into browser search I get info on PC fix not Mac. about:config I can't find it.
Thank yo for trying. I did "reset" though", maybe that will help.

When I type about:config I get mozillaZine. I've thrown it into the trash and done a "secure empty trash". Oops, jus got into about:config, maybe it will work.
Got in, should I be looking for preferences with geneio in them or not?
I'll have to play around with browser to make sure it's gone.
It looks like its gone, thank you so much. If it's I'll be back :)
