Basically whenever I open a new tab 'Delta ALWAYS comes up' as the default search! :(

I have reset Firefox. I have reset to blank and to Mozilla as default. I don't understand your instructions about malware (but is it???) resetting and too nervous in messing up my laptop to try ! :(

I now detest Delta Search and want it totally removed forever.

Nothing gets rid of it.

Only started about a month ago-ish. I run Win 7 Professional. Intel 3rd Gen Intel Core i7-3740QM Processor 32 mg ram Nvidia Quadro K3000M video card

Hi AuroraMagic, could you recap the symptoms and what you've tried so far?

  • Is the problem limited to the new tab page (e.g., called up by Ctrl+t or the + button): you get Delta Search instead of the usual 9 thumbnails or whatever you set to appear?
  • Have you disabled all nonessential and/or unrecognized extensions on this tab: orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category? Usually a link will appear above a disabled extension to restart Firefox to complete the process.
  • If your preferred new tab page sticks until you exit Firefox but gets changed when you restart, have you re-checked for a user.js file as described in this article: How to fix preferences that won't save?

To those of you who can't remove Delta Search completely, check your web browser shortcut, there might be an additional line pointing to delta search engine. See this:

You may also use this great utility called Shortcut Cleaner:

Would you believe it ! The jolly things BACK !!!

Had Trend Micro systems chap over the phone try to delete it but frankly I don't think he knew what he was doing and made me nervous at some of his 'suggestions'!!! Gees Their other chap was meant to call but didn't bother !!! :( Whilst removing it from the Add/remove progs this hasn't worked so it must be re-installing somewhere ...

Best thing to do is

1.Go to Programme files - if you have Programme files (X86) your Mozilla folder could be there, find out.

2. Now find one text file would be there with the name Install

3. Go inside this install by opening this text file and CTRL+F to find .js

4. This .js will be as user.js which you can rename it as user1.js or what you like.

5. Then CTRL+A and copy this entire text and CTRL+V on another text file and save as your desired name on to your desktop ( because it wont first allow you to save here.

6. Now delete the original install txt file and from your desktop the file which you saved, drop down it here.

7. That's all, the most annoying and dirty shameless delta will disappear

Thanks people ! :)

Yes I had it arrive and stay, and then it just sat there wanting to be the 'browser'!! :( New windows or new tabs all had it sit there trying to command ! :(

Managed to get it gone .. :D

Delighted to say I did this method as detailed above : "Hi sherlizz, to change what appears on a new tab, you can go under the covers and edit the URL as follows. (If this setting does not stick, one of your add-ons might be overriding it or you might have a user.js file in your personal settings folder.)

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the filter box, type or paste newtab and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and enter the desired value:

(i) Page thumbnails (default) about:newtab

(ii) Blank tab about:blank

(iii) Built-in Firefox home page about:home

(iv) Any other page full URL to the page"

And that WORKED :) All others areas seemed deleted but clearly not everything !! Done and gone/ I will check out the .js file in case it's still lurking !! Thanks :)
