Firefox sucks and apparently so does this "support site"

So originally, Firefox 11 was annoying me by adding an unsolicited homepage to my tabs every time I start the stupid thing, demanding that I should update a variety of plugins that I don't need to disable but don't care to upgrade until I actually need to. I started a query about that.

Then this support site very "helpfully" decided to throw an error and delete my whole post.

I have no reason to upgrade Firefox and no reason to update or delete the 3 or 4 addons that Firefox keeps whining about. This thing is just a mongoloid following me around offering helpful advice about how tasty spaghetti is while I'm at work.

How do I make this idiot stop "helping" me?

There are alot of reasons to update Firefox, your add-ons and your plugins, not the least of which is security. Please update to Firefox 18, and update your plugins

this new "support site" really sucks.

a recent running thread was closed - http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/938821

no idea why, it reflected my question which is still unsolved there. wth am I supposed to ask a new question choosing from pre-picked topics like in Ebay if its already there? mozilla, our pal in the dark IE ages - now same impatience and bossyness as MS?

anyway, it was nice to see in this thread that in the year 2013 many users are still on the good old 3.6.4 sniffing and esp. sync free version. where an alternative flash player still gets you most of youtubes which made Adobe's bloat- and spyware redundant for several years now.

mozillas - please stop giving answers nobody asked for and respect Netscape's heritage of a free AND independent browser at the same time!

My post here had a remarkable effect; even though nobody responded with an actual solution, the next time Firefox did an automagic update the problem disappeared. Kudos to Mozilla's developers for that!

Seriously though, Firefox is the casual browser of choice for the tech savvy. Everyone else who uses Firefox uses it because someone tech savvy recommended it (or because when reinstalling Windows XP someone tech savvy had to install Firefox before they could do anything at all online, since Windows Updates requires IE8 and IE8 is a manual download and the site it's on won't even open on IE6 or 7 which came with the early XP releases). The forums here should reflect that and cater to the tech-savvy, from registration onward. This Hasbro-grade wizard interface (and Lego-style functionality) does not reflect that or cater to that demographic at all.

So here's another negative note:

Somebody came into this thread and selected "Tylerdowner" and his boilerplate post about upgrading as the solution to this thread. Since I see he's a moderator, I'm betting it was him. Since he didn't actually provide anything resembling information, much less helpful information, I unmarked that crap as the solution.

Seriously, Mozilla, this is not your forum moderators' private playground to pat themselves (or each other) on the back for posting the same tripe to everybody's question without actually considering whether it's applicable to the situation.
