Firefox 17.1 after updating from 16.0.2 will not navigate to ANY site unless I run it in compatibility mode(XP SP 3 works).

I had this issue with 16.0.0 as well and had to revert to 15.0.0, 16.0.1 worked without issue though. And now it does it again.

Once I updated and restarted, it reopened the sites I had open except Facebook.com(it was blank), but would not navigate anywhere else, and refreshing did nothing to the pages that were open. Clicking a link made the screen go white(blank) and the refresh button would flash(changing from Refresh to Stop and back to Refresh) quickly.

Of course my internet is working fine hence this post, and both Chrome and IE9 are able to navigate.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
