Then you have installed a Firefox version that doesn't support the Firefox crash reporter.

You will have to switch to the official Firefox version if you want to make use of the crash reporter.

Does this also happen if you try to open the page or other about URL (see also about:about) via the Help > Troubleshooting Information page?

No about:plugins works. about:about works. Interestingly about:about does not list about:crashes as one of its choices.

Are you running an official Firefox version from the Mozilla server?
Only such a version will allow to send crash reports.

  • Edit > Preferences > Advanced > General: System Defaults: "Submit crash reports"

No the version is one supplied by the distribution (in this case Mandriva) from its repositories. Thanks
