Yep, still on XP-32... I just updated to the version released today, and firefox.exe executes momentarily and then quits... nothing happening.

A more in-depth look at a process monitor, and I can see firefox.exe running.. and drwtsn32.exe running on it as well...

Download and install previous version of firefox (3.6) and it works just fine... in your court mozilla

drwtsn32.exe will be the MS crash utility DrWatson

Try reading firefox crashes and see if using firefox in safe mode helps

  • use the default themes
  • do not make changes in the options window, just click on continue

I personally am not likely to benefit from seeing your error logs, but I will try 3.6.25 later on windows xp and post back as to whether or not it works, my expectation is that it will run without incident.

oh i know what dr watson is... im simply letting you guys know that there is no activity on the computer... loads a bunch of processes from firefox.exe, and from drwtsn but before it fully loads it runs a termination protocol on both processes... and dr watson has no error report... so whatever the issue with the source, there is your stack report... procmon is what i was using to determine what was running and being executed with firefox... and that is firefox.exe and drwtsn32.exe.... but then no dice, not a msg or anything

I have now checked and find Firefox 3.6.25 works for me on Windows XP SP3 32bit.

  • did you read firefox crashes
  • do you see any crash IDs when you go to about:crashes
( by typing it into the location bar)
  • have you turned on notification of crash reporting
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> |General| sytem defaults [] submit crash reports

If you have no good reason for staying with the old Firefox 3.6 have you considered downloading and installing the current Firefox 9

yah, pretty good reason to stay with 3.6.... 9 doesn't load... hence the post O.o... no but seriously... no error reporting as i cant get 9 to even load in the first place?
