Firefox crashes before it even opens - just updated it 3 days ago
Crashes so fast I can't even see it , or get the latest version number, but I just updated it for security LIKE YOU TOLD ME TO a couple of days ago.
The CPU has been crazy bad, running up to over 1 million K since you updated it. I only had 4 addons installed, 2 of them for ads, but then ran in safe mode for a day anyway, with no addons. CPU still high, not as bad.
Then today it wouldn't open at all. I got a crash report, if you need it, but I notice it said NT and 2nd service pack, and I have XP and SP3!
What next? Why did this happen? Never had this before.

How do you know what version I had? I couldn't open it anywhere. I have updated it again, still running too high cpu, but at least it's running.
I wouldn't have come back to FF, but Chrome will not do Paypal correctly and didn't always update Twitter.
I have a similar problem. I updated a couple of days ago and yesterday evening couldn't get into anything via ff so am now having to use explorer. All I get is a little box which tells me ff has crashed, sorry, working to solve the problem!! Have checked my firewall and ff is cleared but this still isn't helping. I've included my email address several times, as requested, on the crash report but no-one has responded as yet .................. HELP!!!!!!!!!

Modified
I found a trojan in with my addons. I never saw it there before. I didn't discover it until I tried to copy my profiles over (as FF tells you to do before you reinstall). While I was copying the file over, MSE found 2 trojans inside the FF files!!! They are called tracur. I tried to kill it, but it kept coming back. Finally I reinstalled FF, version 9 as Swarnava says above (with no explanation) and FF worked again. However, I could still see the trojan in my addons, called xulcache, so I deleted the addon, and it never came back now.
I found info on this trojan at Microsoft - I think FF was very disingenuous not to mention this bad problem. Who knew FF could get trojans inside it??? http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Threat/Encyclopedia/Entry.aspx?Name=Trojan:JS/Tracur.B
