Many applications even the latest ones though go in with latest operating systems but every management is through the web interface. Unfortunately, all the product release note document talks about the browser or/and java requirements. It lists Internet Explorer until 7 but Mozilla firefox only until 2.0. I am struggling with getting the right version of broswer and using latest Operating System (like OpenSuSe 12.1 or SLED 11.1).

How do I still stick on to Firefox 2.0 version? when they are all now updated to 8!!! I dont want to switch to Windows OS just because it meets requirement by using IE 6 or 7.

Not sure if you could get the rather old Firefox 2.0.0.* to work on openSUSE 12.1 without some work at least as I cannot get Firefox 2.0.0.* from Mozilla to work on openSUSE 11.3 without having some dependencies issues even after installing stuff that should have covered what it was giving errors on in console.

If you are willing to use Windows for this one thing then you could perhaps use portable Firefox version of Firefox 2.0.0.20 where you can put it on hard drive or usb flash drive. This version will not impact your Firefox installed.

Firefox 2 is no longer supported, and hasn't been for a few years already.
