unfortunately my children are smart enough to turn add-ons on and off..... that is why i am looking to edit about:config....they dont know about that. yet...

You can't do that reliably with Firefox. You need to use external software to allow only access to approved sites and block access to sites that you do not want to visit them.

unfortunately all those links are for windows or mac. we are using ubuntu which makes things even more difficult.
