After a virus, a new Firefox was loaded and my bookmarks appear not to be on my computer and I need to know how to retrieve them.

My computer got a virus (Trojan horse?). When being repaired, the "bookmarks file" was not saved. Is there any way to retrieve my bookmarks?

  • Go to run and type %appdata%

Go to

  • Mozilla folder
  • Firefox folder
  • Profiles folder
  • something.default
  • bookmarksbackups

{e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\t4wt0a0y.default\bookmarksbackups}

Please make sure that .JSON fomat files are there.

If the files are there then,

Click Import and Backup option on the menu.

Choose Restore option.

Select Choose file... option and locate the folder containing .json format files.
