Can I trick a tab to think it's always the active tab?

I'm having problems with a web page showing a loading bar which only moved if the tab is showing. If I go check another tab, it stops. I guess that, since that page shows ads during the loading time, it's not a browser malfunction but something deliberate.

I was wondering if I could use some sort of plugin to bypass the "active tab" check this webpage must be doing. Any ideas?
