Once it starts I try to do a search......nothing happens. I type an address in the address bar.....nothing happens.

Have tried latest Firefox and 3.6.19. Have tried uninstalling/reinstalling.

HELP! I don't want to have to use other browsers if I can avoid it!

Thanks

You can also try to reload the web page(s) and bypass the cache.

  • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)

If it doesn't help, try this:

Hello

Thanks for your response. I just friend all of those things and nothing works. Firefox loads but then is completely unresponsive when trying to start browsing.

Any other ideas?

Thanks :)

Thanks.

Yes tried all that. No luck. This is a new install of Firefox on a brand new system, so there is no cache to clear (though I did it anyway) and no add-ons at all to do anything with.

And Firefox doesn't tell me it isn't responding. It just does nothing!

-> click Firefox button and click Exit

-> Start Firefox in Safe Mode (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Firefox Safe Mode window will open. DON'T SELECT ANY OPTIONS, just click Continue in Safe Mode

Check and tell if its working while you are Browsing in Firefox Safe Mode.

Ok just tried in safe mode. Exactly the same result. Absolutely nothing happens.

In case it helps.....when I first start Firefox and attempt to search or go straight to a web page, it says 'connecting' for about half a second on the tab at the top of the page. Then it goes dead. After that first attempt, every time I try to search it is completely dead and I don't even get 'connecting'

Cheers

Sorry....

Little Snitch is a firewall: http://www.obdev.at/products/littlesnitch/index.html

You basically configure it to allow/disallow certain applications to access the internet. If Firefox is not on the restricted list, don't assume it will automatically be allowed to connect.

You must ensure to add Firefox to the list of allowed applications.

Hope that helps :)
