When I post a link, it isn't underlined, so the recipient can't click on it but has to copy and paste
I had to change to Firefox because I'm with Yahoo and it became impossible with IE to use my email. Now I can't copy and post links for the recipient to simply click on, because they are not underlined, so the recipient has to copy and paste them to view them. This is not great for my daughters, for example, who receive their emails on their mobiles, as they can't then look at the link. I have no idea why this is like this and equally, have no idea how to remedy it. Is it something to do with the fonts maybe? I did change them when I 1st started

Just above the textarea that you use to enter the message text there is usually a button bar with buttons to add text formatting like Bold and Italic.
That toolbar may also have a button to turn a text link into a clickable hyperlink (look for a chain like button).
You can select the text and click that button to turn the link into a clickable hyperlink.
If you can't find the button then hover them all to check the tooltip of each.
Thank you sooooo much! That has worked perfectly!
You're welcome
I found the button referred to. I highlight the link and click on it and it opens and I click on OK and the link is highlighted. However, in testing I get the error message "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded"
I Installed the add on and when clicked on it asked me which format I desire and I have clicked on every one of them and no success.
I am at a loss, please advise. I use Windows XP Pro and Firefox version 3.6.18 and am working in Hotmail.
Can you post an example of such a link?
Is that a link to a page on internet?
Herbism: Regarding your comment on using the link button, if I read your comment correctly: "I highlight the link and click on it and it opens and I click on OK" I think I see the problem. Once the pop-up box is there, you have to paste in a URL before hitting the OK button. I suspect this doesn't solve your original problem, I think you wanted to be able to just paste or type a URL into an email and automatically have it hyperlink. I'm having the same problem. In ver. 5 Firefox the automatic linking in Yahoo mail seems to be broken. However, I just tried the scenario in Google Chrome and IE 9 and found that the automatic hot link did not work in Chrome/Yahoo mail and it did work in IE. I didn't poke around in Chrome to see if there was the ability to enable/disable such a thing and haven't found anything in Firefox along those lines. So, as it stands, we'll have to wait and see what others come up with. It would seem like a basic requirement of a browser to automatically recognize a URL and set it as a hot link, unless the user did not want it to do so.
Yahoo has only ever supported that feature to automatically create a hyperlink for IE.
In other browsers you need to do that yourself via the toolbar button with the link.
Not true. I've used Firefox for years and have never had a problem until Yahoo changed my account to their new version. Now none of the links in emails are automatic sendong or receiving. The Yahoo chat guy says its working fine and suggested that I just create them myself everytime. Thats not acceptable. Does Firefox have a solution?
Thank you. That worked OK.
cor-el...that is the second problem you have been able to solve for me. Much appreciated.
