What is the name of the add-on? You probably can find it here:
Tools > Add-ons > Extensions
Its the PC Sync2 synchronisation extension, it's apparently not compatible with Firefox 3.6.18 and there doesn't appear to be an update available. However it WAS compatible with the previous version of Firefox. That's the last time I click to accept a so-called improvement.
Just to be clear: Firefox doesn't disable external software, only browser add-ons. The program you use to sync your device with Outlook should continue to operate normally. However, the Firefox bit -- which apparently relates to sync'ing your bookmarks?? -- may not have been updated for newer versions of Firefox. If that is important to you, please see the next section.

When Firefox disables an add-on, it usually is because it includes a list of compatible Firefox versions and it hasn't yet been updated for later versions. Due to changes in the way Firefox stores bookmarks, old extensions might fail in newer versions. If you can't find advice on this particular add-on through searches, you could experiment on your own.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Backing up your information. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, install the following extension that lets you decide whether add-ons that don't claim compatibility should run or not: Add-on Compatibility Reporter :: Add-ons for Firefox.
After you install this add-on and restart Firefox, there will still be a message that "--- is incompatible with Firefox X.X" but the add-on will be enabled and a Disable button will appear for that entry.
