When you issued Firefox 4, it automatically updated on my Mac PowerPC osx 10.5.x and then wouldn't run. I had to search for older version, download, and reinstall. This was inconvenient. I cannot find min sys req for the new 5.0 version. Min sys requirements should be obvious in yor press. What are the minimum system requirement for firefox 5.0 for Mac osx, and with the more frequent updates, how will I know when you've "obsoleted" another of my machines, and how will I be protected from going one update too far?

Chosen solution

Firefox 4 and 5 will not run on a PPC Mac; only on Intel. You can get TenFourFox, which will run on a PPC.

Thanks for the tip. I'll be trying out tenfourfox. Do you think Mozilla will unbutt their heads and at least provide minimum system requirements in their press and on their download sites?

I have not paid much attention to those pages. I got my information from the Mozillazine forum.

Saying what an application will NOT run on is not a thoroughly adequate answer to the question. It would be more useful to tell us what the system reqs are, not what they are NOT.

Follow standard procedure for citing system reqs; they're well established and work well.

I find it incompetent and galling that nowhere does Mozilla spell out the system reqs for FireFox 5. I'm glad I'm not alone in skewering them for such an oversight.

Dear Mozilla: Do include minimum system requirements in your product literature. Do not set us up to find you a failed service by failing to behave professionally. "man up," and state the requirements, or just go away.

the answer is here... this used to be easy to navigate to... what's going on firefox...????

https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/5.0/system-requirements/

I could only find this after downloading the update to FF_5.0 (but not applying it)... going to the preferences - advanced - updates panel... viewing the update history and then clicking on 'details' for that update....

FF... you need to make sys. reqs. or release notes easy to access again... don't become another corporate A**h*le... enough of them in the world already... :)
