I can't update Firefox due to not having certain permissions to access some of the items. Please help!
I tried to update Firefox 3.0.15 to a newer version (I believe it's 4.0.1) and all the downloading went fine, but when I went to drag Firefox into the applications folder (using Mac OS X 10.6.7) it said that the operation couldn't be performed because I don't have permission to access some of the items. I shut down, did everything over again, and it still had the same problem.
Can someone help? I don't want to get hacked into.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
- Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
- Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
- Install the new version that you have downloaded
