I can't delete a canceled download...

...(ironically it was a new version of firefox) in Firefox v4 Windows XP proffessional. Also i have already tried safe mode and have admin privilages, it always says cannot delete because another program is using it, even when no programs (including firefox) are open. redownloading doesn't work either, because it is automatically renamed. Also i have cleared all temporary files and registry errors from my system using CCleaner, still no go.

If you cancel a download before it completes, it will only show with a .PART extension in the folder where it was intended to download to. Delete that.

The manual method to the second link did it, thanks! I tried searching the web for an answer for this, i couldn't find anything to do with my particular issue, let alone as straight forward as that, so thank you. On a side note, i really need to refresh my knowledge of dos. its been a good decade or two.

@Xircal its a mute point now that the problem's solved, but that was the problem to begin with. Windows would not let me delete the .part file. Thanks for taking the time to answer regardless.
