Can't set print properties
Just loaded FireFox 4.0.1 when I click file print and the print window opens if I click on properties in order to set quality or black only etc I get an error box that says Error Prop Res DLL not loaded
I've tried exactly the same thing using Windows internet explorer and Word for windows and these both work perfectly. I can click properties in the print window and set anything I want on my printer.
I've re-booted and no help.
I'm about to go back to the earlier version of Firefox since I print a lot of things from web sites and I often want to set draft mode printing to save time and ink.
Can you offer any suggestions other than going back to the earlier version? Thanks! KyDan Louisville KY

That seems to be a long standing problem with Lexmark printers that just started happening in Firefox 4.

Check out this support thread for a fix that worked back in 2006 for a similar problem with different Lexmark printer. Hopefully something like that will work for you.

Just went back to ver 3.6.17 and problem is solved.
Found other similar complaints on Bugzilla. Apparently Firefox is no longer going to support older Lexmark printers?? My printer works perfectly with all other browsers and applications and I have a years supply or more of bulk ink for it. If firefox doesn't fix this I'll have to switch browsers and I really don't want to do that but I don't want to have to buy a new printer more!! Help!!

Thanks and a big tip of the old ballcap to the-edmeister! Copying LXBKPRPR.DLL into my C:\windows\system32 folder solved the problem.
I can now set print properties on my Lexmark printer via the print function of Firefox 4.
Thanks again!
I have an HP. Have always printed easily from site when using Firefox. After this last upgrade, nothing will print. Pulled up Internet Explorer just to check and things printed easily. Have tried printing from several sites pulled up within Firefox with NO success.
I will go back to the older version since that seems to have solved the problem as stated above. I print all the time as well so this new version of Firefox is useless to me without printing capability.
I have an HP LaserJet 2200 and I cannot print using Mozilla 4.0.1. I have gone back to Explorer.
I had a similar problem using the latest version of Ubuntu having the latest version of Firefox.
I have an old Epson printer. My color cartridge was running low so I decided to print with black.
"Black" was not in the printer settings. "Grayscale" came the closest to it and it printed in black acceptably well. But the setting would only hold for one printing. Then it would revert to the "Color" setting automatically.
It was only when I accessed the printer settings, and selected "Grayscale", from within the Ubuntu O.S. (and not from within the Firefox browser) that it became permanent, that it became the "default" choice.
I have the same problem. At first it worked on line and not off line but now I get the same error message Prop Res DLL not loaded. I see that Lexmark is not the only printer that has this problem. Works on Explorer ok. I suppose I could go back to the old version but would rather not.
The 2 HP postings and the Epson posting were off topic for this thread.
Prop Res DLL messages are unique to a problem with Lexmark print driver mis-installation faults. Some models of Dell printers are made by Lexmark, so AFAIK those are the only two brands that would throw that error message.
Do you have a Dell or Lexmark?
