I've installed a new Solid State Drive as well as Firefox 4.0. Can you please tell me how to import my .json backup bookmarks into the new version? There doesn't seem to be an option (HTML, JSON or otherwise)?

Open the Bookmarks manager with CTRL+SHIFT+B, or Bookmarks | Show All Bookmarks, then click Import and Export followed by Restore. Then choose a date.

If you saved them to an HTML file, then same menu, but Import | HTML which will start the Wizard.

Thanks Mate!!

The first point to make is that unless you use the option to delete settings or however it is worded Firefox will try to retain and restore your bookmarks when you upgrade. If you use the delete option you are likely to need luck and a file undelete utility to restore your bookmarks.

The import option is found in your bookmarks library, however be CAREFUL and ensure you backup any existing bookmarks first, because it is all too easy to inadvertently overwrite a file containing bookmarks you wish to retain.

The .JSON file will overwrite whatever the existing bookmarks are. I believe the HTML imports are still imported and appended to the existing bookmarks.

Have you already deleted your bookmarks ? Did you explicitly by some method create backup bookmarks yourself, if so where did you put those files, are they on the new Solid State Drive yet ?
