I downloaded a Firefox update. Now I cannot connect at all to internet. Says Firefox cannot find proxy server. How do I fix this?

I received an automatic update to update Firefox. I downloaded it and restarted computer. Now, I cannot connect at all to the internet. I have an internet connection. I don't know what proxy settings are but can't connect anyway.
