My old computer (iBook G$ w/Tiger) died but prior to it's demise, I manually backed up my bookmarks. I have them in a zip file. I've installed FireFox (3.6.13) on my new computer (MacBook Pro w/Snow Leopard) . I followed the directions on this site (open "Organize Bookmarks" click on Star -- Restore -- Choose File. Then answer "are you sure you want to do this questions" then I get an error message that says "unable to process file" -- any ideas?

Do you only have one JSON backup?

If you have more backup, do all of them give that error?

Does the file have a .json file extension?

You can try to delete the current file places.sqlite in the Firefox Profile Folder and try again.
