Can I delete "firefox.exe.hdmp", a 370 mb file dated 6-24-2010 in a temp folder?
I would like to save disk space and delete this file. This file is located in this folder: C:\Documents and Settings\SCS\Local Settings\Temp\WER3711.dir00 I am currently (Dec 2010) running FireFox 3.6.13

You can delete that file.
Tony, Thanks for the reply. Can you also tell me what is from? Scott
That file is likely to have been created by the "WinXP trouble reporter", it is an temporary "dump" file that contains details of an error that occurred involving Firefox. That is an uncompressed version of the error, a compressed version may have been sent to Microsoft to analyse the error.
Okay, that makes sense. A .txt file in that folder mentions Watson.microsoft, which if I recall correctly, has to-do with error reporting.
I found another copy of that file in a different folder. C:\DOCUME~1\SCS\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER9fb2.dir00
Can I delete the entire folder? It contains: FireFox.exe.hdmp, FireFox.exe.mdmp, and two .txt files.
This is going to save 3/4 GB of disk space!
You can delete the contents of Temp folders, just keep files created today as they may still be in use.
All the files I want to delete are old - from June 24, 2010. No other files are in that temp sub-folder. Should I delete the sub-folder too or just leave it there empty? Won't Firefox just recreate the folder if it is needed?
Best not to delete the Temp folder itself, just the contents.
Okay, that's what I thought you meant. Thanks for the clarification and patience. I appreciate the help and education!!
You're welcome
Good Morning. Is there a way to automatically delete or not store files in the "temp" folder beyond one day? Gordon
