How does one end the endless loop of firefox.exe creating and killing its process (PID) every second or two when trying to (re)start after updating addons?
After updating 3 addons , the restart failed, as does every attempt to start. A new process for firefox.exe is created, then immediately killed, and so on. Sometimes there are two processes at the same time. I can not manually terminate this vicious cycle with the task manager, and have to log out or reboot to stop it. FF starts in safemode (thats how I post this), but the addons remain enabled as they are disabled only after a succesfull "non-safe" restart.

Oh, there is a suspicious entry hiding at the very bottom of the extensions list: "United States English Spellchecker 5.0.0 ... will be installed when Firefox is restarted". I'll cancel that, and try to restart.
Fine, FF now starts as usual, so I guess the culprit was/is the "United States English Spellchecker 5.0.0 " which , after several restarts, still claims it "will be installed when Firefox is restarted".
As it turns out, some others have problems with that addon (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3497/), and the developer has already updated to 5.0.1. yesterday : "Fixed a typo in the code which prevented v. 5.0.0 of the spellcheker to work properly in Firefox 3.6.*" ("spellcheker", ROTFL)
I would like to post a review there to inform others, but apparently I need to recreate yet another account for the addons site. :-(
Still, Firefox should NEVER get stuck just because one add-on is faulty.
