Why does Firefox 3.6.4 forget the folder I last downloaded to, forcing me to use an inconvenient single default location, unlike previous versions?
Previous versions of Firefox didn't enforce a default download location, just returned to the last used directory. From there I could navigate up or down as needed, or stay where I was if that suited me. That made organizing downloads as I went very simple and convenient. Now, even with "Always ask me where to save files" each download defaults to My documents\Downloads unless I select another location using "Save files to [box]." That means I either have to do some tedious clicking around to locate the appropriate destination, or open MS Windows Explorer after the download is completed and move the new file to where I want it. THIS IS NOT AN IMPROVEMENT! You might consider restoring the older behavior under an option button such as "Remember my last download location."

Yea, same here. It was stupid of me to keep updating firefox whenever new updates available. Should I know, I just stick to previous version. Not only this new updates makes firefox forgetting my last download dir, but still not solve problem that firefox keep creating download folder in "My Documents" folder. Even after you delete the download folder, when you select [Tools -> Options -> Geneal] again and you get download folder back in "My Documents" folder.
It looks to me like just the latest in an ongoing trend toward removing user controls and substituting arbitrary defaults. Just because Microsoft and Symantec do it doesn't mean it's a Good Idea.
Searched for solutions - can find any. Hope they know about the bug and fix it!
Same problem here running 3.6.6
The past two releases have been garbage, first they forced this ridiculous "plugin container" on us, and now they've managed to screw up a basic function (remembering last download location) that has worked correctly for years.
I used to swear by FF, but little by little I'm losing faith.
Good to know it does not happen only to me. Bad to know this is a built-in function, and no workaround is available.
I had a look in 'about:config' but couldn't find anything useful.
The firefox devs/PMs could at leqst make this an option...
I tried to set 'browser. download. folderList' to '2' in 'about:config' Not sure it works in FF3.6

I have two computers, both running 3.6.6, one remembers, the other doesn't, wtf.
WTF indeed. The system failed to post my last comment, to the effect that tweaking in about:config didn't help and that it's odd that Firefox would lose this feature about the same time that Thunderbird added something like it.
